Description
The medicine belongs to a group of medicines called aromatase inhibitors. This means that it interferes with some of the effects of aromatase, an enzyme produced by the body that lowers the levels of certain female sex hormones such as estrogen.
The medicine is used to treat advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women (women who have stopped menstruating [menopause]).
The usual dose is 1 film-coated tablet (1 mg anastrozole) once daily.
No dose adjustment is needed in elderly patients or in patients with mildly impaired liver function or patients with mildly to moderately impaired kidney function.
