Anastrozol Winthrop® 1 mg Filmtabletten

Description

This medicine is used in postmenopausal women:

• Treatment of advanced breast cancer;
• Adjuvant treatment of early hormone positive breast cancer;
• Adjuvant treatment of early hormone-positive breast cancer after treatment with tamoxifen for 2-3 years.

Contraindications

According to the instructions, Arimidex is contraindicated:

• Concomitant treatment with tamoxifen;
• Liver failure moderate and severe;
• Severe renal impairment;
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding;
• Child age;
• Hypersensitivity to the drug.

Women in premenopause the drug is not prescribed.

Dosage and Administration

The tablets are swallowed whole and washed down with water. The drug is recommended to take at the same time.

Adults and elderly patients are prescribed 1 mg of the drug 1 time per day. The course of treatment is long. The duration of auxiliary therapy is usually 5 years. If progression of the disease is observed, the use of Arimidex should be discontinued.

Side effects

When applying this preparation, the following undesirable effects: arthralgia, flushing, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, increased activity of GGT and AP, vaginal dryness, vaginal bleeding, hypercholesterolemia, carpal tunnel syndrome, headache, drowsiness, urticaria, angioneurotic shock, anaphylactic shock, skin rash, hair thinning, erythema multiforme, asthenia.
Special instructions

There is no information on the safety of Arimidex in patients with severe renal impairment or severely impaired liver function.

If there are doubts about the hormonal status of the patient, it is necessary to confirm it with a blood test for hormones.

Simultaneously with Arimidex, estrogen-containing medicines should not be prescribed.

Since this drug reduces the level of circulating estradiol, it can lead to a decrease in bone mineral density.

There is currently no information on the safety of long-term treatment with anastrozole. It is not known whether it improves treatment outcomes when using chemotherapy.
